Tonometer
 
[zu griechisch métron »Maß«] das, -s/-, Ophthạlmo-Tonometer, Gerät zur Messung des Augeninnendrucks (Tonometrie) bei Verdacht auf Glaukom; beim Impressionstonometer wird die vom Innendruck abhängige Eindrucktiefe eines auf die lokal betäubte Hornhaut aufgesetzten, mit Grammgewichten bestückten Stäbchens gemessen; dieses Gerät wird nicht mehr verwendet, weil die Messungen von der individuell verschiedenen Dehnungsfähigkeit der Augenhüllen beeinflusst werden. Bei der inzwischen üblichen, genaueren Applanationstonometrie wird die Abplattung der Hornhaut unter Einwirkung eines äußeren Drucks gemessen, bei der Routineuntersuchung in Verbindung mit einer automatischen Refraktionsmessung in Form der Luftapplanation (Messung unter Einwirkung eines kurzen Luftstoßes).
